ROUND ONE v THURGOONA

FOOTBALL

Under 12
Fantastic game to kick off the season. Very impressed with the commitment and effort in the way these young lads played

Under 14
A lot of really good signs to start the year off. Although the scoreboard didn't reflect our performance, we felt we ticked a lot of boxes. We are a developing group, and we are very happy with our first game for the year.

Under 17
Awesome tough gritty win under some very very trying conditions credit to the boys. A fantastic start to the season.

Reserves
There are quite a few new faces in the 2nds this year, and many of the boys haven’t even had the chance to see or play with each other yet. The score doesn’t truly reflect how well they worked together and supported each other’s ball movements. There’s only room for improvement from here, great effort, boys!

Best players: Hagen Hopp, Liam McRostie, Shaun Wilhem, Aaron O'Reily, Kade Parkinson, Taylor Hampton

Seniors
In a nail-biting away clash, the underdog squad dug deep to secure a thrilling come-from-behind victory in hostile territory. Trailing for most of the match, Deegan Dolny and Cam Fendyk led the charge, refusing to roll over as Liam Stephenson and Lachie Armstrong provided plenty of bite across the ground. With the game on a leash, Tom Cartledge and Austen Fendyk delivered the final bark, slotting the clutch goals to seal the win. It was a true "Pedigree" performance—proving that when the going gets rough, this pack knows how to get going.

Best players: Thomas Cartledge, Lachlan Armstrong, Campbell Fendyk, Lukas Jacobson, Kayde Surrey

NETBALL
What a super start to the 2025 season against Thurgoona. It was exciting to see terrific numbers across our junior grades and a strong start to the season by our teams.

Under 11
Our U11’s started off the day with a great win, with our smallest bushies showing slick skills and experience beyond their years.

Under 13
Our 13s showed great fire and fight, but unfortunately went down to a strong Thurgoona side. With strength across the whole court and exceptional teamwork.

Under 15
Our under 15s come home with their first 4 points.

Under 17
Our under 17s girls should be proud of their 4-quarter effort against a tough opponent. The u17s side showed great potential as a largely bottom age side, with returning U17s players from 2024 showing great leadership on court.

Seniors
It was always going to be a tough day on court for our senior netballers coming up against reigning premiers in both C & B grade, and semi-finalists in A Grade in Thurgoona, and we congratulate Thurgoona on taking home the 4 points across the board in the senior sides. The Bushies netballers are proud to welcome new players Shannon Neil, Tiara Willis, Steph Mason, Liela Curr, Kate Armstrong and Lainey Alexander to the senior squad in 2025, and welcome long time bushies Sarah Robinson and Eidenne Surrey back on court after growing their families in late 2024. There is a great buzz down at the courts and the BFNC, and we are excited for a great season ahead.
